In this project, we helped our client build and administer a PROMs project that sends their patients automated survey invitations using a PROMs instrument called the BREAST-Q© and a platform called REDCap®.

The final product covers the whole range of generic breast cancer operations, as well as oncoplastic and aesthetic breast surgery, and consists of at least six unique surveys. Once the built-in sequence is launched (enter the patient’s name and contact details, then select the operation name and date), the program sends the patient an operation-specific pre-operative PROMs survey and schedules a cascade of unique post-operative PROMs surveys to be automatically sent at the pre-set post-operation timepoints. No tracking is required. The scales were carefully selected and cover all aspects of aesthetics, breast cancer, and reconstruction surgery. When the BREAST-Q user rights were changed, the scales were changed to match new oncoplastic breast surgery and cosmetic procedures, such as the Goldilocks mastectomy, LiCAP, AiCAP, lipomodelling, and fat-only augmentation.

The database is automatically populated with the patient’s responses, and the outcome measures (also called Q or Rasch scores) are instantly calculated. The pre-designed report templates, which are live-updated, are easily accessed by clicking the links provided.
